‘Wildcat Gun Machine’ Looks Purrfect for Cat and Shooter Lovers

Gun-wielding girl on disgusting Akira monster action comes out on May 4th

Daedelic Entertainment (the publisher that brought you games like Deponia and Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun) has announced that the isometric bullet-hell dungeon crawler Wildcat Gun Machine is coming out on May 4th on Steam, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. If you’re disappointed that Obi-Wan won’t be out in time for Star Wars day and wish Star Wars would add more well-armed cat girls fighting fleshy monstrosities, then this is the game for you. If you don’t like Star Wars, then this game about a well-armed cat girl fighting fleshy monstrosities is the game for you.

Wildcat Gun Machine is the debut title from Australian developer Chunkybox Games. Somewhat reminiscent of Enter the Gungeon, it’s a twin-stick shooter that sees you battle Lovecraftian elder gods and their fleshy spawn with nothing but your wits, 40 types of guns, giant mechs, and cute kittens. You’ll have to navigate the mazes filled with hordes of enemies. Encounters aren’t procedurally generated—rather than run into random AI-generated monsters, you’ll run into abominable obstacles deliberately designed to provide a challenging puzzle that will test everything you’ve learned.

The aforementioned mechs are kept from you by mounds of malevolent flesh that warp the robot into something twisted. Fortunately, you’ll be well equipped to liberate them: the 40 weapons include auto-aim bullets, long-range lasers, and rounds that explode with a large area of effect, among many others. Retrieving the mechanical monsters is will allow for some cathartic displays of destruction.

Character upgrades will allow you to play the game how you want. You can get extra lives to increase your survivability, or get speed upgrades for a speedrunning build.

This cat has claws. A lot of them.
