Beowulf and Force Edge Return in Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition!

A video has surfaced online featuring video footage of Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition being played, which seems to have revealed some familiar weapons for Vergil to wield. The brief, twenty-second clip posted on a Japanese video show ‘Real E’ shows the presenter playing as Vergil, using the gauntlet weapon Beowulf. Both weapons made their first appearance in Devil May Cry 3, and returned as part of Vergil’s arsenal in the Special Edition of Devil May Cry 4.

Later in the same video, a spectral version of the Force Edge sword is seen on the UI’s weapon wheel, suggesting that all three of Vergil’s past weapons will be usable. Given that the Force Edge is no more as of Devil May Cry 5 it is only fitting that Vergil wields a spectral version of it instead, which is not a new concept to him since his Summoned Swords skill already has him firing off miniaturized ranged versions of it.

As of posting this article, there is no official word from Capcom or high quality images of the weapons, so low-quality screencaps are all we have to work with.

When Capcom officially releases an update on the weapons, we will likely know more about how they work, in addition to more information on what else is featured on the UI. The V-shaped gauge likely relates to an ability to summon Vergil’s human half for a devastating attack, as seen in the reveal trailer.

What do you think of Vergil’s new weapon set in Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition? Are you happy to see his reliable old Devils Arms return, or were you hoping for something new? Let us know!
