The indie game about a dystopian future continues to flex its wealth of acting talent
Wired Productions has announced that Zelda Williams (The Legend of Korra, Shrimp, witty Twitter personality, famously named after the princesses in The Legend of Zelda) and Tommie Earl Jenkins (Death Stranding, Go Jetters, delightful TikTok enthusiast) are among the star-studded cast of The Last Worker.
The Last Worker is a sci-fi first-person narrative adventure developed by Wolf & Wood where you play as an employee of a heavily automated warehouse heavily evocative of an Amazon fulfilment centre. It promises a darkly humorous and engaging story with a plethora of characters and a lot to say about our society and how it treats our dwindling workforce.
Tommie Earl Jenkins gave a heartwrenching performance as Die-Hardman in Death Stranding completely eclipsing (if you’d permit me to editorialise) the more prominent actors in that game (such as Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen) with his stand-out scene. Zelda Williams’ most well-known role might be Kuvira from The Legend of Korra, a dynamic, powerful, and kinda scary fascist, it looks like Williams will once again be playing a woman of authority, but this time on the side of the freedom fighters.
Both actors are very active on social media and join an impressive roster of voice talent including Jason Isaacs (The Death of Stalin, Superman: Red Son, and that one famous franchise with the wizards), Clare-Hope Ashitey (Children of Men) David Hewlett (The Shape of Water), Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (The Deep). I sincerely hope the all-star cast gives the game the visibility it looks like it deserves. Members of the public will be able to play this game for the first time this weekend at PAX East by going to the Wired Productions Booth at 14030. Here’s a trailer showcasing Williams’ character.
“Who would’ve thought a casual conversation on Twitter in the middle of a global pandemic would somehow lead us here? I’ll be forever grateful that Jörg saw fit to send another battle-weary warrior woman my way, and it was a joy to lend her my voice.”
