Ranking Every Mainline FIFA Cover (From a non-Football Fan’s Perspective)

6: FIFA 95

In terms of displaying a sense of motion, FIFA 95 wins by a country mile. This man is straight up levitating from the ground in spectacular fashion, proving once and for all that you really can fly if you believe hard enough. The way his body twists through the air like a turkey twizzler is simply marvellous, and it was a shame that there weren’t any other covers like this.

5: FIFA 2005

The Animorphs-esque placement of the three players intrigues me. Whenever I look at this cover, I imagine the three players are placed in a sequential transformation sequence from right to left, with the rightmost player undergoing a butterfly-like metamorphosis, resulting in his final form on the left. I want to know so much more about this one.

4: FIFA 97

The running man emits a powerful visible aura that looks to be from the realm of darkness itself, perhaps as a nod to Kingdom Hearts 5 years before it was released. He fights against the never-ending white void with his own dark powers, a struggle that is sure to capture the attention of fans for years to come. Nomura is a genius!

Hollyman

Sean Hollyman is an avid fan of action figures, videogames and sometimes other things too. When he's not labourously trying to earn platinum trophies for games that he otherwise probably wouldn't care about, Sean can often be found taking photos of his Transformers in embarrassing situations.
