I’d Like To See a Bokoblin Dressed In This, But That’s About It
Million Publishing

This girl is straight up plucked from a Story of Seasons game. She looks like she’d be related to Popuri, and that’s not a terrible thing. It’s not the most stunning thing I’ve ever seen, but it’s not bad. It’s just a tad too one-note for the Princess of Hyrule.
Phantom Hourglass
Though it’s simple and (probably) made of paper, this dress is kind of sweet. Yes, it’s the same dress as the one we’ll see later in the article; however, this frock gives the princess an adorable childlike silhouette. Simple and cute, but it’s not one of the most beautiful that we see in the franchise.

The Legend of Zelda

Losing the frills and white bows from previous dresses, this design is miles better than the mess we saw Zelda wearing before. This doesn’t mean that the dress is good, by any means, but it does mean that the designers could have created something… better.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Mother Theresa called. She wants her skirt back. Seriously, though, the blue stripes along the hem of a white skirt just scream “Catholic Nun”. At least the pink isn’t offensive here.

Hyrule Warriors: Bunny Hood

I’ve no reason for putting this here, other than I’d like to see a Bokoblin in a bunny hood.
Hyrule Warriors: Koholint
Unfortunately, I haven’t seen this outfit in-game, and the only picture I could find is incredibly low resolution. I can’t in good faith place it any higher without being able to see the details. Zelda in armour is cool, though.

Echoes of Wisdom

A bit better than the curtains and scarf outfit from the same game, except this time, it’s Toad from the Mario series dressed as the Princess.
Breath of the Wild/Age of Calamity: Ceremonial Robes
I wanted to place this outfit higher. I really did, but it just looks like a tablecloth. The silhouette seems quite unflattering, and there is a distinct lack of accents. I get that she’s meant to be seen as a beacon of hope and light, but I’m sure we could’ve had that effect with the slightest hint of blue or lilac.

Hyrule Warriors: Era of the Wilds

This outfit… Ugh, it disappoints me. I’m not sure whether it’s the hairstyle alongside the stitching on the white bodice, or the blue cuffs. All I do know is that something feels off. I also don’t like the hair barrettes. They seem way too modern.
The Legend of Zelda TV Show
Crop tops, let’s goooo! This outfit just seems a bit more elevated than the other outfit from the show in this list. It’s still not good, but it’s not dreadfully plain. I kind of like the sleeve on her right arm.

The Baddies of Gerudo Town Aren’t Impressed, But You Can Enter
Cadence of Hyrule
There’s the best of both worlds in this fit: trousers and Zelda’s iconic tunic. I really do love the lilac colour chosen here, and the red accents don’t clash too hard. Overall, it’s a cute style that many people could wear.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Alternate Colour

I know there are alternative colours for numerous Zelda outfits, but after the tragedy that we saw earlier, I had to choose my favourite colour for this dress. The gradient in the skirt is so nice, and it contrasts well with the silver hair. Man, I love silver hair. More purple-to-black gradients, too, please!
Echoes of Wisdom
Okay, okay, I get it. Chibi Zelda can look cute. I find the amount of details added to her garb here quite complimentary to her rounded face and stumpy size. Keep doing this style if you have to chibify everyone, Nintendo.

Hyrule Warriors: Grand Travels

This is the same situation as the Koholint outfit, but I like the colours I can see here a bit better.
Japanese New Nintendo 3DS Commercial
With such comfy-looking apparel, I couldn’t help but place this look this high. The colours chosen are so lovely together, and I know I’d have wanted this outfit had I seen it as a pre-teen.

Breath of the Wild

I’m not going to lie, this may well be the same outfit as before. That doesn’t mean I don’t like this art better. The blue cuffs are much less noticeable, and the hair barrettes look less glaring. The trousers are cute, and the sash around Zelda’s waist breaks up the silhouette well.
Skyward Sword
I initially had this look much lower in tiers. This art, though, changed my mind completely. The hot pink is surprisingly not too harsh to look at, and the blue sash on her side adds much-needed dimension. These attributes, paired with the ribbons in the Princess’s hair, white shawl, and golden accessories, lend themselves well to creating a homely* and comfortable visual.

Ocarina of Time

Although this is a classic look for Zelda, the long gloves give me a bit of disdain for the design. The gown is stunning, but I also find that the pauldrons are too large for a graceful feel, drowning the Princess in armour that looks to be too large and heavy for her dainty frame. I’m not exactly fond of her hair here, either.
Ocarina of Time (Child)
Child Zelda from Ocarina of Time is much better, in my opinion. She’s a tiny little thing, though, and her gown seems to be slightly too large for her. I think if the tunic/sash were slightly more fitted, this look could jump into the next tier… only if she lost the gigantic necklace, too, of course. I like her headdress, sleeves, and bracelets, though.

Upcoming Live-Action Movie

As this movie is not yet released, and this is the only look we’ve gotten of Zelda’s outfit, I’m quite surprised that it made it this high in the list. That being said, the colour of this dress is splendid, and the fit is neither too tight nor too oversized. I can’t wait to see more of this look.
