I saw a friend post online that they were going to take 25 books from 25 friends and try to read them all through 2025 (a play on the year most likely), so I thought, surely I could do the same with video games? Then I realised, games are a lot bigger time investments than books, and that I didn’t have 25 friends to get that many suggestions from, so I altered the concepts, one game a month, 12 games, 12 friends, that seemed achievable in a year. So I reached out to 12 of my friends and asked them for suggestions, but I didn’t tell them which games to suggest, or a genre or anything, just games they thought I should play as part of this (but I did preface to not suggest open ended, very long or live service games that are massive time commitments) and this was the list I ended up with. This article is written in the order I played the games in, and if I asked you for a game I hope you’ll read on past the game you suggested me and maybe you’ll find something here that you’ll also want to play in the future.
